The Strategic Risk Analysis Report 2026 examines the challenges that European Integrated Border Management (EIBM) may face over the next decade. Drawing on an assessment of global megatrends, strategic interviews, thematic risk areas and technological developments, the report explores how emerging and interconnected risks could shape the future border environment.

The report identifies key areas requiring strategic attention, including migration, cross-border crime, terrorism, hybrid threats and technological development, while highlighting the importance of interoperability, anticipatory governance, cooperation and human oversight. It also provides recommendations to support the development of the EU’s multiannual strategic policy for European integrated border management.
