In the third quarter of 2017, the overall number of detected illegal border-crossings at the EU’s external borders fell, which runs counter to the typical quarterly trend. The magnitude of this decrease is highlighted by comparison with the previous quarter (-34%), and the same quarter of 2016 (-40%).
