In the quest for a uniform European approach to border control, few things are as crucial as training. Whether patrolling a land border, checking passports, interviewing crime suspects or conducting search and rescue at sea, it is vital for Europe’s 175,000 border guards to work effectively together. Now, in addition to entry-level common training standards and specialist training, there is an overarching framework ensuring harmonised standards for all border guard training across Europe and the EU—the Sectoral Qualifications framework (SQF).
